LAES Project

Team: Nikki Lago, Annette Tran

Project Goals: The goal of the paper was to create “a well-designed and functional prototype that incorporates key elements such as beatmaps and community forums, while significantly improving UX/UI aspects often lacking in similar platforms.”

This project focuses on designing and developing a user-centric website for the rhythm game Virtuosos, addressing the shortcomings of existing rhythm game websites that often suffer from poor UX/UI design and overwhelming interfaces. Over 10 weeks, the team followed a structured process concluding with user testing and high-fidelity design implementation. Using React for the front end and AWS for the back end, the development began with translating Figma designs into code. experimenting with AI plugins like Builder.io and Anima proved unsuitable due to financial limitations. Inspired by successful rhythm game websites, particularly their well-crafted beatmap pages, the Virtuosos website combines innovative solutions with the core principles of rhythm games, creating a thoughtfully organized and user-friendly platform.
